it is because we do not dare that things are difficult”

At the heart of every Jedi’s lightsaber is a Kyber crystal, which serve as its source of power, imbued by the Living Force. The Kybers were noted for their unmatched ability to channel energy and generate enormous returns.

The color of a lightsaber is to represent the Jedi’s chosen class and even his/her personality.

Blue blades are for most Jedi Knights – also called Guardians. Their main focus is combat. One of the most famous Jedi using a blue lightsaber is Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin Skywalker also used a blue saber before turning to the Dark Side, and Luke inherited that lightsaber when he started his training.

Green lightsabers are for Jedi Consulars, who are more meditative Jedi. Two of the most famous Jedi using green lightsabers are Yoda and Qui-Gon Jinn.

Yellow blades are for Jedi who are highly trained in both combat and meditation, and could be compared to Japanese Samurai, who practiced Martial Arts and Zen together. Yellow lightsabers represent the purest form of a Jedi; a Jedi who served under the old Republic. The most famous Jedi using yellow blades are Rey Skywalker and the Jedi Sentinels.

Orange lightsabers are connected to Jedi Masters with great knowledge and wisdom. One of the very few Jedi known for using an orange saber is Master Yaddle from the Jedi Council. Obi-Wan also used an orange blade once, in the book “The Master and the Apprentice.”

Purple blades are for the rare Jedi who can understand the Sith’s combat style (Form 7) without turning to the Dark Side. The most famous Jedi known for using a purple lightsaber is Mace Windu.

White lightsabers are for Jedi who left the Order but didn’t turn to the Dark Side, or wish to act independently from the Jedi Council, fighting evil and helping others following the will of The Force. Ronin-Jedi, so to speak, dedicated to The Light but free of the rigid code of the Jedi Order. They are called WAY-SEEKERS. The most famous Jedi using a pair of white lightsabers is Ahsoka Tano.

Red blades are for the Sith, users of the Dark Side of the Force. Their dark intentions don’t allow them to manipulate Kyber crystals, so they had to make synthetic ones. When synthetic crystals are imbued with dark energy, they turn red. All Sith use red sabers, but the most famous of all is of course Darth Vader.
